In 1975, representatives of various Polish churches, organizations, and Fraternal societies joined together to commemorate the two hundredth anniversary of the United States of America.  With great support from the entire Polish-American community and with dedication and effort by the members of the committee, the commemoration was brought to a successful conclusion in September, 1976.

During 1977, members of the Committee expressed a desire to continue with some form of an organization and that the dialogue and combined effort would be directed toward solidifying relationships between the various Polish organizations.

This reorganization was completed and it was agreed to take over the responsibilities of the former "Centrala"  under the adopted name of the American Polish Central Committee of Lawrence County.
